At Sugar High Bake Shop & Cafe, we believe in the power of resilience, love, and community. Founded by partners Sabrina and Jessica Acosta, our journey is rooted in family and fueled by passion.In 2018, Sabrina first launched Sugar High as a trial run at a local mall, where it quickly became a success. However, life had other plans, and she realized she wasn’t ready to take the full-time leap just yet.
In 2022, everything changed when Sabrina's teenage son faced a life-altering diagnosis of end-stage kidney disease. Determined to raise awareness and find a donor, Sabrina set up a table outside a local boutique, selling baked goods and spreading their message. The community response was overwhelming, inspiring Sabrina and Jessica to turn their challenges into an opportunity to dream bigger.
With Jessica’s expertise as an executive chef and Sabrina’s background in management and human resources, the duo poured their hearts into rebuilding Sugar High. Starting with nothing but determination and a car Sabrina sold to fund their vision, they worked tirelessly from home, crafting unique desserts. Within six months, they opened their storefront on May 2, 2023, just six weeks after Sabrina's son's successful kidney transplant. They also added sandwiches to their menu, which quickly gained a loyal following. Sugar High soon became a cherished part of the San Angelo community.
Today, we focus on creating the best desserts, serving delicious food, and fostering connections with every customer who walks through our doors. Sabrina’s son is healthy and thriving, and his journey reminds us every day that anything is possible when you lead with love and determination. At Sugar High, we’re not just baking treats – we’re building dreams.
